Location: NYC - Onsite
Duration: 12 months
Job Summary
Perform upgrades on IP network
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assignment Requirements:
Perform IP network device upgrades, review existing design and implement required changes

  • Review current design and build new configuration with upgrade requirement
  • Assemble, configure, install, and dispose of Cisco routers and switches following existing configuration standards and procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting when necessary to remediate issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a work management system for task coordination, scheduling, and obtaining installation approvals.
  • Schedule outages with business owners as required.
  • Manage tasks and provide periodic status updates and progress reports as necessary.

Experience Required:
Network Design and Management:
Expertise in network design, management, detailed documentation, testing, problem analysis, and formulating scope and objectives for system changes.
Technical Knowledge and Hands-On Experience:
  • Cisco ASR/ISR routers (EIGRP, HSRP, OSPF, etc.) and Cisco Catalyst switches
  • Cisco Layer 2 protocols and configurations
  • Network security best practices
  • Determining network requirements, developing designs, selecting equipment, and creating Bills of Materials
  • Datacenter experience
  • Addressing Layer 2 and physical layer issues in both copper and fiber infrastructures

While most work may be scheduled during normal work hours, equipment upgrades and replacements may also occur after-hours and over the weekend. The daily work schedule may vary based on job location access, and therefore, daily work hours will depend upon outage windows scheduled with the business users. Weekend work is not common but can occur at some 24x7 locations.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel within the five boroughs of NYC, Westchester and Orange and Rockland, transporting equipment and tools to complete work.
  • Only travel between job sites will be reimbursable.
  • Job locations will vary and include substations, workout locations, and office buildings with various access requirements.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
  • Required to provide and wear PPE, including a hardhat (no white hardhat), safety boots/shoes, eye/ear protection, and any other PPE required by the location.
