Job description

We are looking for a Rail Analyst to join our team in Atlanta, GA. As a Rail Analyst with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will be responsible for supporting rail fleet operations through financial processing, asset tracking, and service issue resolution. This role ensures accurate lease payment management, maintenance cost control, real-time railcar visibility, and effective coordination with railroads to resolve service disruptions.

About the Role
Railcar Tracking & Fleet Visibility
  • Monitor and track railcar movements using rail management systems (e.g., TMS, TMX, or railroad tracing tools).
  • Maintain accurate records of railcar locations, status, and utilization.
  • Identify delays, dwell time issues, and service disruptions and escalate as needed.

Lease Payment Processing
  • Review and process railcar lease invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Reconcile lease charges against fleet data and usage.
  • Coordinate with lessors to resolve billing discrepancies.

Maintenance Invoice Management
  • Review, validate, and process invoices related to railcar maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure charges align with agreed rates, scopes of work, and supporting documentation.
  • Track maintenance spend and support cost control initiatives.

Railroad Case Management
  • File and manage claims/cases with railroads for service failures, delays, demurrage, or damages.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and follow up to resolution.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and rail carriers to drive timely issue resolution.

Reporting & Analysis
  • Generate reports on fleet performance, lease costs, maintenance spend, and service metrics.
  • Analyze trends and provide insights to improve rail operations efficiency.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to rail spend.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with logistics, plant operations, finance, and external rail partners.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within rail operations.

About You
We Require:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-5 years of experience in rail logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations preferred.
  • Experience with railcar tracking systems and transportation management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in financial and invoice processing.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with rail billing, demurrage, and lease structures.
  • Experience working with Class I railroads and short lines.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis) and ERP/TMS platforms.
