Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support financial operations for a government-related organization in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a Contract position focused on maintaining accurate payment records, entering financial information efficiently, and helping ensure daily transactions are processed without delays. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-volume accounting tasks, tracking incoming funds, and handling administrative finance support with a high degree of accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Process check and wire transactions accurately and in a timely manner to support daily accounting activity.
• Enter financial data into accounting records with strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Monitor and record deposit activity to help maintain current and accurate cash tracking.
• Transfer information manually between platforms when needed to keep financial records aligned.
• Organize and batch financial documents and transactions for efficient processing and review.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including support for billing and invoice handling.
• Review transaction details for completeness and follow up on discrepancies to help maintain data accuracy.• Experience supporting accounting operations in an accounting clerk or similar finance-related role.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and invoice processing.
