Job Summary

The Inventory Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing inventory reporting, accuracy, and planning functions at their assigned nursery location. This role supports production and sales operations by ensuring accurate inventory data, maintaining availability reporting, and coordinating closely with sales, purchasing, receiving, and yard teams.


The Inventory Manager provides operational oversight for inventory activities within the nursery and supports the sales team with crop availability information, specifications, and forecasting insights.


Essential Functions

  • Issue purchase orders for inventory purchases.
  • Work with Receiving and Accounts Payable to resolve issues related to incoming inventory shipments.
  • Review inventory reports across company software systems to monitor inventory accuracy and availability.
  • Work with Inventory Coordinators to research and correct inventory discrepancies according to standard operating procedures.
  • Enter Build of Materials (BOM) information and perform other necessary ERP system data entry.
  • Communicate with Sales, Purchasing, and Yard teams to resolve inventory count issues and ERP-related discrepancies.
  • Provide guidance to the sales team regarding estimates, future orders, and contract growing opportunities.
  • Maintain product specifications and photographs within the ERP system and provide information directly to sales teams when needed.
  • Provide weekly plant availability reports to the sales team.
  • Perform cycle counts and lead the annual physical inventory process for the nursery location.
  • Assist with plant container labeling when required.
  • Perform additional office or yard-related tasks as needed to support operations.


Experience and Other Requirements

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of office or administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple departments and manage detailed data accurately.


Preferred

  • Ability to speak and write Spanish.
  • Knowledge of plant nomenclature and nursery operations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, inventory management systems, or related operational software.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is an in-office position within an active nursery environment. Remote work is not available.


The role requires remaining in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods. Extensive typing and 10-key data entry are required. Use of hands and fingers for typing, grasping, and handling documents or materials is necessary.


The employee will frequently move between office and nursery yard environments and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, uneven ground surfaces, dust, plant material, moisture, and seasonal allergens.


Physical requirements include:

  • Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Frequent typing and use of hands and fingers.
  • Occasional walking across nursery yard surfaces.
  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. approximately 20% of the time when necessary.
