Position Overview:

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for the movement, staging, replenishment, and inventory control of materials throughout the facility. Working as part of the Supply Chain team, this position supports production operations by ensuring raw materials, components, tooling, and supplies are available where and when they are needed.

This role works closely with the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and production departments to receive, transport, stage, return, and ship materials while maintaining accurate inventory records and ERP transactions. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming materials, components, and supplies, verifying quantities, documentation, and condition prior to inventory processing.
  • Process receiving, inventory, material movement, and shipping transactions accurately within the ERP system.
  • Pick, kit, stage, and deliver materials to production areas in support of daily manufacturing schedules.
  • Replenish production materials and point-of-use inventory to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
  • Pick up and return completed parts, work-in-process (WIP), excess inventory, and nonconforming material to designated locations.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting, transaction verification, FIFO inventory practices, and routine inventory audits.
  • Investigate and help resolve inventory discrepancies, material shortages, and transaction errors.
  • Prepare, package, and ship customer orders in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and carrier specifications.
  • Generate shipping labels, packing slips, certifications, and other required shipment documentation.
  • Coordinate shipments using parcel, freight, and LTL carriers while ensuring on-time delivery commitments are met.
  • Monitor production schedules and shipping priorities to proactively identify material or logistics issues that could impact operations.
  • Move materials throughout the facility using pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, or other approved material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Maintain organized warehouse, stockroom, staging, and shipping areas to support efficient material flow and inventory control.
  • Communicate effectively with Production, Planning, Purchasing, and Supply Chain personnel regarding inventory status, material availability, and shipment schedules.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, material flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies while supporting additional departmental needs as required.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, inventory control, or material handling environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production operations, inventory management, material flow, or warehouse activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience maintaining accurate inventory records, completing material transactions, and following established inventory control procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production orders, pick lists, and inventory documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy, organization, and process compliance.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing production schedules and business needs.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn and utilize ERP/MRP systems for inventory transactions and material tracking.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production personnel, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.

  • May require operation of material handling equipment including pallet jacks, carts, hand trucks, or other approved equipment following appropriate training.
  • Regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment that may include moving mechanical equipment, moderate to loud noise levels, and varying production conditions.
  • Safety glasses and other required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas.
  • May involve occasional exposure to oils, coolants, packaging materials, and other manufacturing-related substances.
