What are Intune Administrators?

Intune Administrators are IT professionals responsible for managing and configuring Microsoft Intune, a cloud-based service that helps organizations manage and secure devices and applications. Their duties include deploying software, applying security policies, monitoring device compliance, and troubleshooting issues for users across various platforms such as Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Intune Administrators play a crucial role in safeguarding company data by ensuring that only compliant and secure devices access corporate resources. They also work closely with other IT staff to integrate Intune with existing infrastructure and respond to evolving organizational needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intune Administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intune Administrator, you need expertise in mobile device management (MDM), Windows and Azure environments, and a solid understanding of security protocols, typically supported by relevant IT certifications like Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate. Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, and compliance management tools is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help in addressing user needs and collaborating with IT teams. These skills and qualifications are crucial for securely managing devices, ensuring policy compliance, and supporting seamless technology operations across organizations.

The Intune Administrator focuses specifically on managing devices and applications through Microsoft Intune, while the Endpoint Manager Administrator handles broader device and application management within Microsoft Endpoint Manager, which includes Intune and Configuration Manager. Both roles require similar certifications and work environments, but the Endpoint Manager Administrator has a wider scope across multiple management tools.

What are some common challenges Intune Administrators face when managing device compliance across a large organization?

Intune Administrators often encounter challenges such as ensuring consistent policy application across diverse device types and operating systems, troubleshooting deployment issues, and managing user exceptions or non-compliance. Balancing security requirements with user productivity, especially in bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments, can also be complex. Effective communication with end users and coordination with IT security teams are essential for addressing these challenges and maintaining a secure, compliant device ecosystem.

Position: Systems Administrator

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Public Trust (OR willing to obtain, MUST be a U.S. Citizen)

Overview:

This is not a traditional, siloed service desk role. We are actively seeking a candidate who is well-versed in troubleshooting and resolving issues within Microsoft Intune-managed environments, while also operating effectively across desktop support, endpoint management, security compliance, and network-related challenges. You will be expected to move fluidly across technical domains. This means owning problems end-to-end rather than handing them off—while balancing user experience, security requirements, and operational efficiency. This role is in support of a secure and enterprise scale environment with federally regulated compliance requirements.

We are specifically looking for someone who can:

• Troubleshoot and resolve Intune-related issues, including device configuration, policy application, compliance failures, and software deployment

• Provide hands-on desktop support in an enterprise environment, including OS, hardware, and user-facing issues

• Diagnose and address network connectivity issues (e.g., access restrictions, firewall rules, DNS, VPN, IP/Port/URL filtering)

• Navigate and resolve security and compliance-related challenges, including endpoint hardening, policy enforcement, and audit readiness

• Operate effectively across multiple functions—including endpoint management, support, security, and asset management—without reliance on rigid team boundaries

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems or relevant field and 3+ years practical experience in the field

• Ability to obtain public trust clearance

• Ability to self-manage work tasks using M365 based tools

• Demonstrated and proven ability to independently resolve issues, improve day-to-day operations with self-driven initiatives, and operate with a growth mindset

• Hands-on experience administering or operating network access controls in the form of IP:Port or URL based filters

• Practical experience managing enterprise desktops within a Microsoft Intune managed environment

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and administering Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment – ideally including peripheral device management, asset management, and VOIP operations

• Understanding and practical exposure with regulatory controls, baselines, and security policies within an Azure Entra and Intune based environment with enterprise desktops and endpoints (CIS benchmarks, STIG, etc)

• Located near Indianapolis, IN and willingness to be on-site in support of the mission
