About Us

Ohio Support Services (OSS) is a regionally recognized contract security service firm that provides the highest levels of customized security programs to corporate headquarters, industrial and distribution centers, multi-tenant properties, medical centers, Special Improvement Districts, and educational institutions. Since its founding in 1978 OSS has set the standard for the industry: designing and implementing superior, comprehensive, and cost-effective security programs.

Security Area Manager Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Direct Initial reactions to fire and medical emergencies – includes making 911 call decisions
  • Investigate equipment accidents
  • Schedule personnel – ensure all posts adequately staffed
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Complete site inspections
  • Interact withclient and client employees 
  • Patrol the interior/exterior of the property onfoot at regular and random intervals. (Minimum 4 hours per shift).
  • Respond to emergencies,including:medical, fire and weather-relatedemergenciesas well as assaults, thefts and disputes between people.
  • Render First aid and/or C.P.R.assistanceto the extent of the officers’ training.
  • Monitor fire and other life safety equipmentlocatedin the control center.
  • Remain awake,alertand attentive while on duty.
  • Operate a vehicle as necessary for patrol.
  • Monitor closed circuit television. Looking for suspicious and/or theft activity, horseplay, smoke/fire, etc.
  • Monitor weather radio to alert management when weather threatens the facility.
  • Control/limit access to the facility at entry points. 
  • Instruct visitors to sign in and issue them an identification badge, asappropriate. 
  • Answer,screenand route phone calls to theappropriate parties.
  • Issue and account for keys assigned to the security department, ifrequired.
  • Be able to make building announcements using public addresssystemduring emergencies.
  • Be courteous,politeand professional in dealing with our customers, and their employees,visitorsand vendors.
  • Follow and enforce client and company rules and regulations in a firm but courteous manner.
  • Perform other security related duties as assigned.

  • Good computer skills, including the following: able to use a keyboard to correctly input information accurately and efficiently into software programs; able to navigate various software applications and the internet/intranet; able to write and send emails; able torestart/reboot computers and printers;possessa reasonable general working knowledge of computers.
  • ExcellentEnglishwritten and oral communication skills, including the proper use of grammar,punctuationand spelling.
  • Able to collapse revolving doors andassistwith evacuation.
  • Able tooperateFire Panel toinclude: Acknowledging alarms, silencing alarms, re-setting pane, bypassing floors and disarming individual points.
  • Able to follow verbal and written directions from client personnel and OSS Supervisory/Management personnel.
  • Have the abilitylearnto work with computer alarm monitoring systems.
  • Be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to walk, sit or stand for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Willingto work overtime when asked or directed.
  • Must embody vigilance, diligence, and integrity.
  • Ableto work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiplesimultaneoustasks/priorities alone. For example: Handling access control, phonecallsand alarm situations at the same time.
