Job description

Position Description:
Ameritas is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to drive the business by delivery of IT security services and functions. This position would perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
Interns in good standing for at least 6 months will have the opportunity to earn the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity certification, fully funded by Ameritas.
Position Location:
This is a hybrid role (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH) working partially in-office and partially from home.
Position Start Date:
This internship will begin Summer 2026.
What you do:
  • Security Operations
  • Maintain, and monitor organizational security tools
  • Assist in analyzing security tool alerting, providing proper documentation, and closing out investigations.
  • Assist in analyzing and implementing security controls across various environments
  • Support vulnerability management processes
  • Help prepare reports documenting vulnerability trends and overall security posture

What you bring:
  • Must be enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time as defined by your institution studying information security, information technology or related field.
  • Ability to commit to a 12-month internship working full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year
  • Full-time hours: 30-40 hours per week
  • Part-time hours: 15-20 hours per week
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, security operation center (SOC) or risk management concepts
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Desire to learn and grow
  • Effective documentation skill for process and standard development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages strongly desired
