Job description

About this Job The Assistant Coach, Baseball/Athletics Game Administrator reports to the Head Baseball Coach with a reporting line to the Director of Athletics. This person works as a member of the LSUS Baseball program performing a wide range of tasks including the identification, recruitment, coaching, and retention of student athletes. Schedules contests and participates in athletic development and fundraising activities for athletics programs.

Promotes and oversees the academic well-being of student athletes. Reviews film to scout opposing teams and provides leadership for all aspects of the baseball program. They will also serve in a dual role overseeing the game administration of all home athletic contests.

Serves as a resource to the LSUS Athletics Department for the Baseball program. Is detail oriented and maintains accurate electronic and paper records. This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive, or all-inclusive description, of duties and responsibilities.

The Assistant Coach, Baseball/Athletics Game Administrator is a full time, unclassified, exempt 12 month position. Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution LSUS values skills, experience and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply - a degree is not required if the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.

2 years experience coaching at the high school level or above. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly for games, recruiting and scouting opponents. (May be obtained within 6 months of employment) Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree from an accredited institution 3 years of coaching experience at the NCAA or NAIA level.

Knowledge of college athletics programs regulatory requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals at all levels. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Physical and Environmental Demands Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift and carry 10-25 lbs., occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Standing/Walking: Significant time spent standing or walking during the workday. Pushing/Pulling: Requires exertion of force to move objects within the weight ranges above

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and reaching. Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, run, and move quickly during practices and games. Work Setting: Indoors and outdoors tasks depending on season requirements.

Exposure: Frequent work in outdoor settings, including varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind). Possible exposure to moderate noise levels, temperature variations, and occasional dust. Safety Considerations: Requires adherence to safety protocols for lifting and handling materials.

Remains knowledgeable on current federal and state laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards. Job Duties and Other Information Duties: Comply with all LSUS, NAIA, and Red River Athletic Conference regulations and policies Assists the Baseball Head Coach with day-to-day activities associated with the program including, but not limited to, recruitment, on-the-field coaching, video work, and community involvement. Provides leadership for all aspects of Baseball to ensure a highly competitive and successful program.

Serves as a role model to mentor team members to develop and display appropriate behavior and sportsmanship expected of athletic teams and individuals representing LSUS. Observes athletes during practice and competition to identify opportunities for individual or team improvement. Teaches players specific tasks and skills before, during, and after practice.

Schedules contests and reviews film to scout other teams. Supports and monitors academic performance and social development of the student athletes. Assists with recruitment of new student athletes including, but not limited to, attends off-campus games for the purpose of contact and evaluation, manages recruitment material mailings, maintains contact and plans campus visits with prospective student athletes.

Coordinates all enrollment activities of Baseball student athletes. Participates in athletic development and fundraising activities for athletics programs. Supports leadership development, team development, and community service.

Oversee all aspects of Athletics Game Administration to include set up and tear down, promotions, and event supervision for all home athletic contests. Serve in support role for LSUS Golf Tournament, Athletics Hall of Fame, and Athletics Award Banquet. Other duties as assigned by the Baseball Head Coach or Director of Athletics No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
