Job description

Automotive Technician

In this role you will perform both routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles in the postal fleet. You will troubleshoot and diagnose more complex vehicle malfunctions and may provide assistance to lower-level employees.

Job duties include:
  • Diagnose vehicles and perform operational checks on engines, major supporting systems, parts and components
  • Perform various computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment
  • Prepare and update vehicle records, annotate labor time, and manage work orders
  • Conduct visual and auditory vehicle inspections, road calls and road tests

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 2 years professional automotive mechanic experience

Valid State Driver's License

High School Diploma/GED

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair USPS fleet vehicles

Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs

Use computerized diagnostic equipment

Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems

Maintain repair records and follow all safety procedures

Willing to complete a hands-on automotive skills assessment

Willing to complete the USPS Federal online application
