Job Description
Position Summary:
The department of Art, Design and Game Development is seeking a full-time, non tenure-track appointment position as an assistant Professor. for Digital Game Design and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • serve as a faculty member for the undergraduate program
  • Teach 24 credits per academic year. Courses in the program, include Game Development 1 through 3, Visual Design for Games, Senior Game Project, and Topics in Game Design.
  • Contribute to Curriculum development of innovative elective classes
  • Integrating AI-assisted development workflows, procedural systems, and computational creativity tools into coursework where appropriate
  • Mentoring interdisciplinary student teams in collaborative game production
  • Cultivating internship opportunities in the New York area
  • Collaborating with Computer Science faculty and Digital Art and Design faculty to maintain a rigorous curriculum
  • Serve on faculty committees
  • Prepare outcome assessment reports and strategic planning documents
  • Planning of events for current and prospective students;
  • Represent the program in open house events and recruitment events.

Required Qualifications:
  • MFA or doctorate (or equivalent professional experience) in game design and/or game programming-related fields such as game design, computer science, computer programming, and/or interactive design.
  • Individuals should demonstrate consistent scholarly/creative activity, receiving national/international recognition in game development.
  • Active experience with the game industry is preferred along with strong technical proficiency with contemporary game engines and development pipelines.
  • Applicants should have 3 or more years of experience practicing game development in Unity productions techniques. Specific desired areas of expertise include:
  1. Unity development workflows
  2. C# programming
  3. Unreal Engine
  4. Gameplay systems design
  5. Interactive storytelling and narrative systems
  6. Visual scripting systems
  7. Audio integration and sound design for games
  8. UI/UX for interactive applications
  9. Multiplayer/networked game development
  10. Mobile, PC, and web deployment pipelines
  11. Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), or Mixed Reality (MR)
  • Preferred candidates will have additional experience with other gaming engines and in other platforms for Unity development, such as virtual reality or augmented reality. Experience developing analog games is also preferred.

Training Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Strong administrative skills and a collaborative style are needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technologists, artists, and designers on team projects preferred.
  • Current knowledge of industry-standard game development tools is a necessity.
  • University-level teaching experience is expected.
  • Candidates will be expected to teach as full-time faculty member in the program.
  • Candidates should be innovators and leaders in the field of game development, with an interest in program development and student recruitment.
