  • Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist
  • EKG Tech

Kickstart your career in diagnostic cardiology with Nebraska Medicine!
This internship is an entry pathway into a Nebraska Medicine Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist role. It is a paid, on-the-job training opportunity that does not result in certification, but provides structured education and hands-on experience in non-invasive cardiology.
As an Intern, you will perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs, apply and educate patients on cardiac monitoring devices, process returned monitors, and support cardiac diagnostic workflows across both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Training includes progressive learning in telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation through self-study, mentorship, and required testing, culminating in the Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist entrance exam. Successful interns advance into the Non-Invasive Cardio Tech role.
As a Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist, the primary focus is computer-based cardiac rhythm monitoring and data analysis, with 10-20% direct patient interaction for EKGs and monitor placement. Monitoring shifts require sustained attention while reviewing repetitive rhythms and quickly identifying and reporting abnormal or urgent changes. The role also includes dedicated EKG shifts, offering a more active, patient-facing component typically once a week.
We are seeking candidates interested in a long-term opportunity in Non-Invasive Cardiology who are comfortable working in a highly structured, detail-oriented monitoring environment. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate sustained commitment through work, college enrollment, military service, or other comparable long-term responsibilities. Backgrounds in healthcare, customer service, and other fast-paced or detail-oriented environments are welcomed.
Available Schedules:
  • Full-Time (Days or Nights): Three 12-hour shifts per week
    • Days: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
    • Nights: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
  • Part-Time (Days or Nights): Two 12-hour shifts per week
    • Days: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
    • Nights: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM

All schedules are on varying days and include weekend requirements.
Scheduling Expectations:
  • Full weekly flexibility is required
  • Schedules are assigned approximately one month in advance
  • Recurring conflicts (e.g., classes, another job, ongoing obligations) cannot be accommodated
  • On-call shifts are required upon transition to the Non-Invasive Cardiology Tech role
