Job description

Position: Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator

Department: Ambulance

Schedule: Full Time (40 Hours)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager (TPM), assists to improve the quality of trauma care throughout the continuum of care. Collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and the TPM to assess, plan, implement and evaluate trauma care. This collaboration will ensure adherence to the Trauma Program's Performance Improvement/ Patient Safety (PIPS) program through concurrent and retrospective clinical review and chart review of trauma patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Coordinates the Trauma Performance Improvement/ Patient Safety (PIPS) program for the hospital in collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager aligned with state, regional, and national standards (e.g. American College of Surgeons trauma guidelines).

  • Assist the Trauma Medical Director and the Trauma Program Manager to evaluate the effectiveness of the trauma team.

  • Coordinates and participates in trauma performance improvement and patient safety forums/ committees.

  • Facilitates performance improvement data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking. Assures compliance with trauma standards and guidelines,

  • Develops and implements corrective action and/or performance improvement plans. Educates care team on performance improvement processes and tools, and supports them in understanding and applying performance improvement principles.

  • Participates in trauma center surveys and accreditation reviews.

  • Serves as a liaison with external trauma agencies, including state trauma systems and regional trauma networks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:ASN and a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in trauma, critical care, or emergency services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:BSN preferred.At least 2 years of experience in trauma program coordination, quality/performance improvement, or data analysis preferred.Experience with trauma registry software and knowledge of ACS (American College of Surgeons) trauma standards strongly preferred. Experience in data analysis and performance improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:Current RN licensure in Massachusetts. BLS, ACLS, PALScertifications required.
  • CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:TCRN certification, TNCC Instructorpreferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills. Proficiency in trauma registry software and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in a hospital environment and participate in clinical site reviews.

Compensation Range:

$83,000.00- $120,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
