IT Help Desk Internship

Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated student or recent graduate ready to gain real-world IT experience while supporting our internal technology operations.

If you're pursuing a degree in Information Technology or a related field and want practical, resume-building experience, this opportunity is for you.

  • Department:Information Technology
  • Reports To:IT Helpdesk Supervisor

The IT Help Desk Intern provides first-level technical support to end users,assistingwith hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role is designed to give hands-on experience in troubleshooting, customer service, and IT operations in a professional workplace setting.

WhoWe'reLooking For:

We'relooking for undergraduate or graduate students who are currently pursuing (or have recently completed) a degree or certification in:

  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Or a related field

Key Responsibilities:

As an IT Help Desk Intern, you will support the IT team by assisting with day-to-day technology needs across the cooperative.

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets, emails, and phone calls ina timelyand professional manner
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support for:

o Computers (Windows/Mac)

o Printers and peripherals

o Software applications

o Network connectivity issues

  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware
  • Assistwith user account setup, password resets, and access permissions
  • Document issues, solutions, and processes in the helpdesk system
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Helpdesk Supervisor as needed
  • Support IT projects such as system upgrades, equipment deployment, and audits
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment andassistwith asset tracking
  • Follow company IT policies and security procedures
