Job description

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong history of supervising interns, clinical fellows, and onboarding peers, paired with a proven ability to deliver high-quality presentations within their organization and across external professional settings. They will also bring a record of scholarly engagement, having authored or co-authored publications or presentations showcased at regional or national professional forums.
Additionally, certification as a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders ( BCS-S ) or Certified Lymphedema Therapist ( CLT ) is also preferred.

Key Functions
Exemplary Clinical Practice:
  • Provide advanced diagnostics and therapy in all core oncologic areas including dysphagia, motor speech, and cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as Modified Barium Swallow Studies, FEES, and tracheostomy care with excellence and precision.

Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Serve as a departmental leader by guiding daily operations, mentoring junior clinicians, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Lead at least one annual initiative in clinical research, quality improvement, or program development.

Subspecialty Expertise:
  • Demonstrate advanced competency in at least two specialty areas such as laryngectomy rehabilitation, TEP management, voice therapy, pharyngeal manometry, or lymphedema management.

Clinical Innovation & Scholarship:
  • Contribute to MD Anderson's legacy of research and professional leadership through authorship, conference presentations, and participation in national and international forums.

EDUCATION
Required: Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years Relevant work experience in an outpatient or acute care hospital setting post-clinical Fellowship, to include one year of experience in an oncology setting and two years relevant work experience post clinical fellowship.
Successful completion of MD Anderson fellowship can substitute one of the three required years of experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: SLP - Speech-Language Pathologist Certification in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Upon Hire
Required: SP-L - Licensed Speech Pathologist License in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology within 30 Days of hire.
