Job Title: Structural Designer 3

Location: Forest Park, GA 30297

Immediate W2 contract position available in Forest Park, GA.
Estimated Duration: 1 Year
JOB SUMMARY:

  • This position is responsible for structural design work to support the Company’s Transmission and Distribution Substation Design Group as well as providing support to the Transmission Line Design Group.
  • The Structural Designer 3 will produce engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for structural steel and concrete foundations, etc. with an emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs.
  • These positions will require some travel (approximately 25%) and will require availability to be in the office a minimum of four days a week and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service the remainder.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Structural Designer:

  • AutoCAD training, experience or certification is required.
  • A two-year degree from a technical school or university is preferred.

 

Experience:
Structural Designer:

  • 10 plus years structural steel detailing experience including commercial, industrial, stairs, handrails, etc.
  • Experience in creating substation drawings a plus.
  • Experience as a contractor or consultant to the Company a plus.
  • Experience as a structural steel detailer and checker.
  • Experience using AutoCAD at a high level.
  • Experience talking to steel fabrication shops and answering shop problems.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software such as SDS Design Data or Tekla or similar software.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Structural Designer:

  • Working knowledge of AISC, ASCE, ACI codes.
  • Working knowledge of AWS welding standards.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA codes as it relates to steel design.
  • Experience with analyzing steel connections.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete design.
  • Design experience in transmission structures is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Manage workload of drafters.

  • Computer skills to be proficient with standard office software applications
  • Must be a self-starter and exhibit strong problem-solving skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral & written) and the ability to communicate technical issues simply.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have the ability to develop and build relationships at all levels.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to build working relationships with peers, internal customers, and the general public.
  • Must possess effective time management and organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines.

  • Hybrid schedule: Monday – Thursday in office, Friday remote.
