JOBย TITLE: Sports Science Associateย 

DEPARTMENT: Player Development - Strength and Performanceย 

JOBย SUMMARY: The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a Sports Science Associate for the 2026 season. The Sports Science Associate will assist with the delivery of sports science solutions within Player Development. They will assist our Major League Performance Analyst, Biomechanist, Sports Scientist, and MiLB Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to maximize the use of available technologies and information to aid in elite program design and decision making.ย 

REPORTS TO:ย Head of Strength and Performanceย 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 
ย 

Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:ย 

  • Assistย with implementation and maintenance of existing sports science initiatives across the organization, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.ย 
  • Set up, calibrate,ย operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all technologiesย and their dataย used within Strength and Performance,ย which includeย (but are not limited to) VALD systems,ย GymAware,ย andย Catapult.ย 
  • Administerย assessments andย performance testsย as directed,ย whileย ensuringย the highest integrity in data acquisition.ย 
  • Assistย with data management, organization, and integration into the organization's internal athlete management systems and databases.ย 
  • Aid inย facilitatingย the proper reportingย of data to support holistic training initiatives as directed.ย ย 
  • Provide support onย exploratory Sports Science research projects and analysis using a combination of biomechanical, sports science, and in-game data as directedย 
  • Work closely with the Strength and Performance staff to develop andย disseminateย relevant information fromย Sportsย Science initiatives.ย 
  • Document all communications and research toย maintainย reproducibilityย 
  • Provide supportย forย data collection with our Amateurย Scouting Department. This may includeย event-planning,ย warm-up, assessment, and reporting of amateur players during Scouting events.ย 
  • Aid in scheduling motion captures withย appropriate staffย on site (e.g.ย pitching, hitting, S&C, Medical,ย etc.)ย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

Required:ย 

  • BSย in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports science, kinesiology,ย biomechanics,ย or similarย fields.ย 
  • Experience with the following technologies: Force plates,ย Catapult,ย Velocity-Based Trainingย 
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)ย 
  • Familiar with athlete management systemsย ย 
  • Strong communicationย and presentation skills (graphical, written, and verbal)ย 
  • Desire to work with the Sports Performance department to help build a collaborative, organized systemย 
  • Excellent attention to detailย andย organizational skillsย 
  • Wants to work in a baseball settingย 
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours/holidays as neededย 

Preferred:ย 

  • MSย in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports science, kinesiology,ย biomechanics,ย or similarย fields.ย 
  • Certified Performance and Sports Scientist (CPSS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)ย 
  • Bilingualย 
  • Experience with the following technologies: Motion capture, high speed video, Trackmanย 
  • Experience in applied sports science or strength & conditioning settings within elite sport environments (collegiate, professional, or private sector).ย 
  • Experienceย with R, Python, SQLย 
  • Data science capabilitiesย
