Overview
Are you looking for a highly rewarding opportunity that provides extensive career growth? The Accounting Intern will assist the accounting team with job set up, general ledger entries, month end close processes, reporting, document filing and retrieval, and other general accounting tasks.
This is a temporary, part-time hourly intern position during the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 school year, commencing about September 2026.
The position will be onsite located at the Gilbane Los Angeles, CA office. Gilbane is willing to work with the candidate to develop an internship schedule which fulfills the employer's requirements, while accommodating the candidate's class schedule.
Note: A housing allowance for temporary relocation is not available for this internship. Candidates must be able to travel to construction job sites throughout the Southern California region on an occasional basis; reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities
The Accounting Intern will participate in the corporate general ledger function and learn accounting policies and procedures. Candidates will gain basic knowledge of the construction industry, general ledger, and financial reporting. Candidates must be able to seek out additional tasks as time allows, assume additional responsibilities, and develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally and externally.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Currently enrolled in an Accounting or Finance degree program or similar discipline
- Prior exposure to construction industry is a plus
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to drive for results
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
For Southern California, this ranges from $27.00 to $31.00 per hour.
