Job description

Job Title: Sheet Metal Programmer

Job Description

Join our team as a Sheet Metal Programmer, where you will work closely with customers to provide manufacturing information and assist with design changes to ensure seamless production processes. You will use your expertise to program complex and flat parts using SolidWorks, and collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturing methods. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing information for sheet metal and machine parts to assist customer designs.
  • Assist customers with design changes to improve production and review discrepancies.
  • Extract information from 3D model geometry for Punch and Laser Machine.
  • Program complex parts using SolidWorks and modify 3D models for manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with production staff to ensure optimal sheet metal manufacturing processes.
  • Adjust programs to ensure assemblies fit together successfully.
  • Understand material types, plating, pem installation, powder, and welding.
  • Assign correct hardware to generated quotes.
  • Prepare prints within company standards to accommodate customer parts.
  • Perform calculations for angles, weights, and dimensions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Work in a team environment focusing on continuous quality improvement.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing methods when programming parts.
  • Prepare and release manufacturing information packages to the shop.
  • Communicate as a liaison to clarify specifications and design for manufacturability.
  • Interface with the sales department to support new orders.
  • Assist in internal design and development of parts using SolidWorks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

  • Effective communication with customers and staff.
  • Understanding and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
  • Problem-solving in a manufacturing environment without supervision.
  • High attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with purchase order documentation and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic math skills and understanding of dimensions and measuring techniques.
  • Basic sheet metal and machining skills.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and SigmaNest.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Sheet Metal Programming.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience performing quality inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of calibration processes and inspection documentation.
  • Experience using quality inspection and measuring equipment (Calipers, Squares, Protractors, Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Go/No-Go Thread Gauges, Pin Gauges).
  • Leadership experience or ability to direct inspection teams.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Aerospace or precision manufacturing quality experience (preferred).
  • Experience using Net-Inspect software (preferred).
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (preferred).

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing setting with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and moving equipment. The noise level ranges from moderate to high in a fast-paced, hands-on metal fabrication environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moxee, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
