About Lakeview Center

Lakeview Center provides comprehensive behavioral health care to adults and children with mental illnesses, drug and alcohol dependencies and intellectual disabilities. Across Northwest Florida, our services range from residential treatment to outpatient counseling, psychiatry, trauma care, treatments for substance misuse and 24/7 support for those with serious mental illnesses. Overview

Level II internships are structured learning experiences that are designed for students currently enrolled in a public or accredited private academic institution who are participating in behavioral healthcare related educational tracks with service engagement needs.

This level provides supervised hands-on learning opportunities through co-facilitation, clinical support activities, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered- service exposure. Interns may assist staff with approved responsibilities appropriate to their educational level, training, and program requirements under direct supervision.

Educational pathways for Level II interns may include, but not limited to:

  • APRN Students
  • Physician Assistant Students
  • Medical Residents
  • Pharmacy Technician Students
  • Licensed Pharmacist

Internship opportunities are based on departmental availability and supervisory capacity. Placement is not guaranteed.

Roles and Responsibilities

Prospective interns should demonstrate that they have acquired the competencies for the internship program and that they are ready to apply and further develop these skills during the internship period. In addition, interns are required to:

  • Adhere to dress and behavior guidelines.
  • Participate in all approved activities structured by the internship supervisor.
  • Complete, sign, and submit all documentation as directed by the internship supervisor by the requested deadline.
  • Communicate with the internship supervisor throughout the internship experience, especially if concerns or problems need to be addressed.
  • Evaluate and share information about the internship experience.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures of Lakeview Center, Inc.
  • Meet established criteria of the internship placement (not seek internships with family members; maintain passing grades, good attendance, and discipline records; etc.).
  • Comply with training requirements.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from the internship site.
  • Cooperate with the intern supervisor; engage in the program as a learning experience; observe business etiquette; and abide by safety rules.
  • Demonstrate honesty, punctuality, respect, courtesy, cooperative attitude, and a willingness to learn both in the training classes and at the internship site.
  • Remain at the assigned internship placement for the duration of the internship period except by mutual agreement of all parties.
  • Maintain confidentiality guidelines.
