Job description

Project-Based Learning (PBL) Director

Location: Miami, Florida

About SOLFL

SOLFL is a new movement in conscious education dedicated to cultivating intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence. Our first school, SOLFL, a K-12 Miami Torah Earth School, offers a rigorous, mutli-disiplinary curriculum that integrates hands-on, experiential learning with entrepreneurship, ecology, creative expressions and spiritual practice. Our goal is to move children away from traditional classrooms, desks and screens, into the real world. This is an irl (in real life) school aimed at cultivating the impact entrepreneurs of the future

Position Overview

The Project-Based Learning (PBL) Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving a school-wide project-based learning framework that serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

This visionary leader will work closely with faculty, students, community partners, and school leadership to create immersive, interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect academic mastery with real-world problem solving, entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, creative expression, and personal growth.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator, curriculum designer, and systems thinker who believes deeply in learner-centered education and has a proven ability to bring ambitious educational visions to life.

Key Responsibilities

Vision & Strategy

  • Lead the development and implementation of a school-wide PBL philosophy and framework.
  • Ensure all projects align with SOLFL's mission of cultivating intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence.
  • Design learning experiences that integrate academic rigor with real-world application.
  • Develop age-appropriate project pathways for students across K–12.

Curriculum Design

  • Collaborate with teachers to create interdisciplinary, standards-aligned projects.
  • Integrate entrepreneurship, ecology, sustainability, leadership, and creative arts into project experiences.
  • Design authentic assessments, exhibitions, portfolios, and public demonstrations of learning.
  • Establish systems for documenting and evaluating student growth and mastery.

Faculty Development

  • Coach and mentor teachers in project-based learning methodologies.
  • Facilitate professional development workshops and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Build faculty capacity in experiential learning, inquiry-based instruction, and authentic assessment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Community Partnerships

  • Develop partnerships with entrepreneurs, nonprofits, farms, artists, scientists, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Create opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, field experiences, and service-learning projects.
  • Connect students with real-world challenges and opportunities to create meaningful impact.

Student Experience

  • Ensure projects cultivate agency, creativity, collaboration, leadership, and resilience.
  • Help students identify passions and translate them into meaningful projects and ventures.
  • Support student-led initiatives, enterprises, and community impact projects.
  • Promote learning experiences that nurture the whole child—mind, heart, body, and spirit.

Program Evaluation

  • Establish metrics and systems for measuring project quality and student outcomes.
  • Gather feedback from students, families, faculty, and community partners.
  • Analyze program effectiveness and implement continuous improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project-based learning, experiential education, progressive education, or curriculum leadership.
  • Experience designing and implementing interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Deep commitment to learner-centered and experiential education.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum Design, or related field.
  • Familiarity with entrepreneurship education, sustainability education, and outdoor learning.
  • Experience building partnerships with community organizations and industry leaders.
