General Summary

Reporting to the Assistant AD of Marketing, the position serves as the marketing and game presentation lead for all assigned sports, which includes comprehensive efforts related to marketing strategies, social media, advertising, promotional planning, graphic design, and working with coaches, media relations, event management, ticket sales, development officials, and other departmental staff. These efforts serve to increase fan attendance at home events, further expand program and brand visibility, increase campus and community engagement with the department, and further enhance the gameday experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate athletic marketing campaigns for assigned sports to increase awareness, attendance and revenue.
  • Prepare and execute game presentation plans to direct music, video content, public address announcements, spirit squads, and other resources to deliver a high-level fan experience for assigned sports.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with campus, community and corporate partners that allow for the creation of beneficial programming for Eastern Michigan students and fans at home athletic events.
  • Collaborate and assist with fulfilling the strategic vision for the @EMUEagles social media accounts to include marketing and promotion initiatives and highlighting the game experience.
  • Work with assigned sports and other external units of the department and University to ensure consistent messaging and brand and asset management.
  • Research and plan community outreach and grassroots marketing initiatives to generate fan support.
  • Assist with the creation and planning of digital, social, and email marketing campaigns that support audience growth and revenue generation.
  • Oversee the Athletic Marketing Student Internship Program, including the hiring of interns, coordinating gameday staffing, and maintaining the day-to-day responsibilities of the program.
  • Aid the administration of the Jr. Eagles Kids Club program and student section program.
  • Participate in all regular marketing meetings with external and internal units, vendors, and campus stakeholders.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, Business or a related field, is required.
At least one year of relevant work experience is required.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, is required.
Strong interpersonal skills, high energy and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of NCAA policies and compliance is preferred.
Experience with email marketing is preferred.
Familiarity with athletics-related fan engagement platforms, such as SIDEARM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Paciolan, or comparable systems is preferred.
Experience with graphic design and Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred.
