We are looking for an enthusiastic SME Technical Trainer to educate people in industrial, food processing, and manufacturing concepts. You will develop technical training programs and help others develop skills that will make them better professionals. SME Technical Trainer must be excellent communicators, able to explain complex subjects in a clear and interesting way, and devise training simulators for students to better understand the training material.

Additionally, SME Technical Trainers should possess technical aptitude and be knowledgeable in manufacturing, industrial and/or food processing. The goal is to contribute to the development of people’s occupational skills to meet organizational needs. This role requires travel to various Central Valley business units in accordance with the teaching schedule.

This position will be based at our Shafter, CA office. 

Job Description
  • Devise technical training programs according to organizational requirements
  • Produce teaching schedules and classroom curriculum
  • Develop engaging course content using invention, imagination, and talent
  • Conceive original and creative materials, including visual, auditory and tactile lessons
  • Execute advanced training modules independently
  • Meet with customers and provide them with a customized curriculum plan for advanced technical units
  • Arrange for and conduct on-sight teaching as needed
  • Keep and report data on completed courses, absences, and issues
  • Observe and evaluate results of teaching programs
  • Determine overall effectiveness of programs and make improvements
  • Provide recommendations on student advancement
  • Use of CAD/Ignition/Inventor software to create training diagrams
  • Read and create schematic diagrams for class usage
  • Coach and mentor new technical trainers and interns

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES:

  • Use of professional digital cameras for photos and video
  • Use various software for video editing (Camtasia), audio post processing (Audacity)
  • Develop content in corporate LMS system
  • Conduct customer needs assessments with minimal assistance from the Director of Technical Training.
  • Conduct field work alongside our engineering/operational teams
  • Other ad-hoc duties assigned

* Training will be provided for all tools and systems as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in relevant technical field preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of equivalent experience in operations or a related technical field.
  • Outstanding communication skills, and comfort in speaking to groups
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, industrial automation, or related technical fields
  • Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and members outside of the department/organization
  • Strong proficiency in Google Docs and Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Some international travel may be required

Pay Range: $80,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
