Job description

Quanex is looking for a Controls Technician Intern to join our team located in Sioux Falls, SD.
 
The Controls Technician Intern will support the Maintenance team while gaining hands-on experience in industrial equipment repair, troubleshooting, and automation systems. This internship is designed to develop future technical talent by providing exposure to production machinery, PLC programming, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

Your Credentials

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, robotics, manufacturing engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and industrial electrical theory
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Familiarity with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modification
  • Understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Ability to safely use a multimeter for diagnostics
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety

This is a paid, full-time internship that will be paid hourly. The hourly range for this internship is $20 to $25, and the selected hourly rate will align with the intern’s academic experience.
