Energy Solutions is currently seeking a passionate and driven Quality Control Engineer I to join our Information Systems. As a QC Engineer I you will support software and data quality efforts by executing test cases, identifying defects, and verifying that systems meet defined requirements. Working under the guidance of senior Quality Assurance and QC engineers, you will document testing findings, contribute to the maintenance of test documentation, and collaborate directly with developers, analysts, and project teams. Success in this mid-level role relies on your ability to execute testing activities accurately, thoroughly document defects, and adhere to established processes while continuously developing your skills and foundational knowledge of quality control methodologies.
The person who fills this role will be required to work in a hybrid work environment adjacent to one of our offices in Oakland, CA; Orange, CA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; Boston, MA; or Chicago, IL
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Execute manual test cases for software features and workflows to verify accuracy and functionality
  • Document testing processes, results, and defects to support traceability and continuous improvement
  • Record and track test results and defects in systems (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Collaborate with developers and analysts to seek clarification on requirements and reproduce issues
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) and provide testing updates
  • Assist in creating and updating test plans, test cases, and testing documentation
  • Participate in UAT activities by executing assigned test cases and validating outputs against defined expectations
  • Develop familiarity with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Pytest, JUnit)
  • Learn and apply quality assurance best practices, testing methodologies, and DevOps concepts
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by flagging observed inefficiencies process gaps to senior QA and QC engineers for review

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience
  • 2 years' experience testing software products is strongly preferred, including internships, academic projects, or relevant work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly document and communicate testing results and issues
  • Ability to apply foundational testing knowledge to execute test cases and support quality assurance activities
  • Demonstrated interest and willingness to learn, explore, and adopt new tools, technologies, and testing methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in testing

The salary range for this role is $64,000-$80,000, with a target compensation of $64,000 - $72,000 based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
