Hughes General Contractors often has Field Internships available for individuals that are pursuing a degree within Construction Management, Architecture and Civil Engineering fields. We accept applications for internships on a year-round basis in order for candidates to be able to plan far enough in advance of the actual time frame that they would like to begin.

Our unique program has been specially designed to provide a strong foundation for your career. Each internship looks and feels different. We customize the experience based on the direction, goals and schooling. Depending on your focus, you will be partnered with a senior mentor and work alongside industry experts to gain a knowledge and understanding of the entire construction process. If you are interested in being considered for an internship in the field to learn Equipment operating, Excavation, Layout, Carpentry, Concrete, Foreman and Superintendent duties, etc. Please complete our application and answer the included questions to help us best determine if we are the right fit for you.

A Day in the Life of a Construction Field Intern:

  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards.
  • Load or unload building materials to be used in construction.
  • Learn the layout and beginning stages of a project
  • Learn and participate in excavation and site prep
  • Gain experience in carpentry, concrete, equipment operating, and other trades
  • Work closely with site Foreman and Superintendents to learn their duties

Internships are positions that are ONLY considered as an option for individuals enrolled in an educational program.

Special Requirements: Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
