They work under the supervision of licensed opticians or eye care professionals to gain hands-on experience in tasks such as fitting and dispensing eyeglasses, assisting with contact lens fittings, and providing customer service. The internship allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, develop technical skills, and understand the day-to-day responsibilities of an optician.
