Job description

Description

The Director, Equipment – Flag Football is responsible for the procurement, management, maintenance, compliance, and distribution of all official Flag Football league equipment across all six franchises. This person will be part of the broader Flag Football Operations team and will report to the Sr. Vice President, Operations – Flag Football. This role owns every physical element of the game-day experience from the sideline out — including game balls, flag belts, uniforms, sideline equipment, and all league-issued gear. The Director, Equipment establishes and enforces equipment standards that ensure competitive integrity, athlete safety, and a consistent professional presentation across every game and every venue.

Responsibilities Equipment Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with all equipment vendors and manufacturers — game ball suppliers, flag belt manufacturers, uniform suppliers, and sideline equipment vendors
  • Establish and maintain the league's official equipment list — all approved products, specifications, and manufacturer agreements
  • Identify backup vendors for all critical equipment categories to eliminate single-source supply risk
Uniform & Apparel Management
  • Oversee procurement, customization, fitting, and distribution of all official team uniforms, practice apparel, and game-day sideline gear for all six franchises
  • Coordinate with league marketing and creative on uniform design specifications and brand identity requirements
  • Manage the uniform inventory system — tracking sizes, quantities, condition, and replacement needs across all six rosters
Flag Belt & Game Ball Operations
  • Own all flag belt standards — approved models, attachment specifications, pull-force thresholds, and pre-game inspection protocols
  • Manage the game ball program — official ball selection, preparation, rotation, storage, and pre-game inspection in partnership with the Director of Competition & Officiating
Compliance, Budget & Staff
  • Develop and enforce the league's equipment compliance policy; conduct or oversee pre-game equipment inspections for all players
  • Work with the officiating team to ensure all equipment meets IFAF 5v5 standards and league-specific modifications
  • Own the equipment budget — annual procurement planning, vendor invoicing, and expense tracking
  • Recruit, hire, and manage equipment assistants and support staff and building out a corresponding hiring approach
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in professional sports equipment management at the team or league level
  • Demonstrated experience managing equipment procurement, vendor relationships, and inventory systems at scale
  • Deep knowledge of football equipment standards, specifications, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work game days, training camp, and all league events requiring equipment support — including weekends
Preferred
  • Prior equipment management experience in the NFL or a major professional sports league
  • Experience managing equipment operations in a neutral venue or multi-team event environment
  • Familiarity with flag football equipment specifications, including flag belt standards and IFAF game ball requirements
  • Equipment management certification or AEMA membership
You’ll be successful if:
  • Every player takes the field in gear that fits perfectly, looks professional, and meets every compliance standard
  • Game balls are always ready — preparation is never a game-day issue
  • You anticipate equipment needs months ahead and never scramble for a vendor at the last minute
  • You run the equipment internship program with the same professionalism as the league itself
  • You take real pride in the physical presentation of the league — the details matter to you
Benefits
  • Equity ownership opportunities to allow employees to share in the company’s growth
  • Unlimited discretionary time off along with 15 paid holidays per year
  • Comprehensive health insurance options, including a 100% contribution Employee coverage option
  • Additional employee and family insurance coverage options with company contribution, including dental and vision
  • FSA, HSA and DCHSA opportunities including contribution matches
  • Retirement options including traditional 401(k) and Roth IRA plans
