Their role often involves both artistic input, like shaping the sound and arrangement, and technical expertise, such as mixing and mastering tracks. These professionals are essential to translating an artist's vision into a polished recording.

What are some typical challenges music producers and audio engineers face when working with artists in a studio setting?

Music producers and audio engineers often encounter challenges such as balancing creative visions between artists, managing tight deadlines, and ensuring technical issues do not interrupt the recording process. Effective communication is crucial, as producers must interpret and translate an artist's ideas into a polished final product while also addressing any performance anxieties or creative disagreements that arise. Additionally, staying up-to-date with evolving audio technology and software is essential for delivering high-quality results and maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

To thrive as a Music Producer Audio Engineer, you need a solid understanding of music theory, audio recording, mixing, and mastering, often supported by relevant degrees or diplomas in music production or audio engineering. Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live, along with experience using studio equipment and plug-ins, is typically required. Creativity, strong communication, and attention to detail help professionals collaborate effectively with artists and deliver high-quality sound. Founded and led by a Berklee College of Music Business alum with 15+ years of industry experience, Summit combines creative excellence with a long-term vision for building artists, sound, and intellectual property.
We are seeking a talented and versatile In-House Audio Engineer / Producer to join our creative team in Palm Beach, Florida. This role is ideal for an experienced music professional with a strong technical background in audio engineering, hands-on studio experience, and the ability to work across multiple music genres.
Role Summary
This is a hybrid creative and technical role responsible for producing records, engineering sessions, and helping shape Summit's in-house sound and artist development process. The ideal candidate is highly organized, artist-friendly, collaborative, and passionate about creating release-ready music at a professional level.
Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer, record, edit, mix, and assist in mastering music projects
  • Produce and arrange tracks across multiple genres, including pop, hip-hop, R&B, rock, country, electronic, and alternative
  • Collaborate with artists, songwriters, and creative teams throughout the production process
  • Operate and maintain studio equipment, DAWs, plugins, microphones, and recording systems
  • Assist with vocal production, comping, tuning, and session organization
  • Support artist development, arrangement decisions, and creative direction
  • Maintain organized sessions, studio workflow, and professional quality standards
  • Contribute to the growth of Summit's proprietary sound and long-term catalog value
  • Support live recording sessions and additional studio logistics as needed
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, and professional studio environment

Qualifications
  • 3-7+ years of professional audio engineering and/or music production experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton, or similar DAWs
  • Experience working across multiple music genres
  • Strong understanding of recording signal flow, microphones, acoustics, and studio workflows
  • Musical training strongly preferred, especially piano/keyboard proficiency
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently in a fast-paced creative environment
  • Audio engineering background preferred over beat-production-only experience
  • Strong creative instincts with a builder mindset and long-term vision

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in professional recording studios
  • Knowledge of analog and digital recording equipment
  • Experience supporting artist development and songwriting collaboration
  • Familiarity with live sound or performance environments is a plus

Compensation & Structure
  • Flexible compensation structure based on experience
  • Options may include retainer, salary, or per-project compensation
  • Potential for production fees, master participation, and long-term growth opportunities tied to catalog development
  • Full-time preferred; flexible arrangements may be considered

Why Join Summit Music Group
  • Opportunity to help shape the sound and creative culture of an emerging music company
  • Collaborative environment focused on artist growth and high-quality production
  • Ground-floor opportunity with long-term upside potential
  • Work directly alongside a passionate and experienced music leadership team
  • Be part of building meaningful, lasting music assets and artist careers
