Position Overview

The Single-Family division within Freddie Mac is seeking curious, motivated college students for a summer internship. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting data analytics, reporting, business processes, and risk management activities while building skills through mentorship, training, and collaboration. This opportunity is ideal for college juniors interested in data analytics, statistical analysis, quantitative problem solving, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools.

  • Single-Family uses data analysis, reporting, and risk management to support business decisions and deliver solutions for customers.
  • We optimize, visualize, and govern data across the data lifecycle while modernizing the Single-Family data ecosystem.
  • We leverage statistical analysis, quantitative modeling, structured rules, and emerging technologies to improve operational effectiveness.
Your Impact
  • Assist product owners, team members, and business partners with gathering requirements, documenting user stories, and clarifying project scope.
  • Support day-to-day operations and projects through data analysis, impact analysis, user acceptance testing, reporting, and other business or technical support activities.
  • Collaborate with teammates, IT partners, and stakeholders to understand business processes, support issue resolution, and test developed solutions.
  • Assist with monthly business process reporting, executive metrics, and data quality controls for completeness and accuracy.
  • Apply classroom knowledge of statistical analysis, quantitative problem solving, and programming tools such as Python, SAS, SQL, or similar technologies to support business insights.
  • Learn how AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies can improve analytical processes, productivity, and decision making.
Qualifications
  • Current college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Statistics, Quantitative Analytics, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Data Science, Business Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028, with availability to participate in the Summer 2027 internship program.
  • Coursework, academic projects, or prior internship experience related to statistical analysis, quantitative modeling, data analytics, programming, or data-driven problem solving is preferred.
  • Exposure to AI tools, Microsoft AI-enabled productivity solutions, or an interest in learning how emerging technologies can support business outcomes is preferred.
Keys to Success in this Role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to organize thoughts clearly and explain analytical findings in a simple, effective way.
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical analysis, quantitative problem solving, and data-driven methodologies gained through coursework, projects, or related experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and an interest in learning how AI-enabled productivity tools can support analysis, collaboration, and decision making.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to learn how data, technology, and business processes support Freddie Mac’s mission.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset when working with teammates, business partners, and stakeholders.

Interns are paid a set, non-negotiable rate. The hourly rate for this position is $32/hr.
