Role Overview

The Social Media Specialist Intern will support the Communications team by developing engaging social media content that strengthens the National Center for Urban Solutions brand and increases awareness of its mission, organizational impact, thought leadership, and family of organizations. This role focuses on creating compelling, trend-driven content that drives engagement across NCUS's corporate social media channels while highlighting the collective impact of the organization and its affiliated programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and publish engaging content across NCUS's social media channels, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Produce reels, short-form videos, graphics, and other digital content that align with current trends and best practices.
  • Attend organizational events and initiatives to capture photo and video content for NCUS social media platforms.
  • Leverage OpusClip and other editing tools to transform long-form content into engaging short-form videos.
  • Write compelling captions and assist with content planning and editorial calendars.
  • Support community management by monitoring comments, messages, and audience engagement.
  • Monitor social media analytics and recommend content improvements to increase reach and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to develop storytelling content that highlights the impact, leadership, and mission of NCUS and its affiliated organizations.


Requirements:
  • Current student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging reels, graphics, and short-form video content.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms, and emerging content formats.
  • Proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Portfolio or examples of social media content required.

Time Commitment:

Approximately 8 hours per day, up to 5 days per week (up to 40 hours total), with flexibility in scheduling based on availability and project needs. Some evening and weekend availability may be required for events.
