Job description

Job Title: Mechatronics & Robotics Apprentice
Job Description

This full-time, permanent Mechatronics & Robotics Apprentice role is based in Arlington, WA and focuses on supporting highly automated warehouse operations. You will learn to combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and automation engineering skills while working with complex, high-performance manufacturing and material handling systems. Through structured training and on-the-job learning, you will develop the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair automation and robotics equipment to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured apprenticeship program that combines classroom training with on-the-job learning in mechatronics, robotics, and automation systems.
  • Work with journey workers and senior technicians to learn how to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex high-performance manufacturing and material handling systems.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment, including robotics and robotic work cells.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on conveyance and material handling equipment using established job plans, procedures, and checklists.
  • Conduct maintenance and basic troubleshooting of robotics systems and robotic work cells to support high equipment availability.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to material handling equipment components to restore equipment to safe and reliable operation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, and related components.
  • Read and follow technical documents and instructions to complete maintenance and repair tasks in compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Support the implementation of safety standards and ensure that all work adheres to relevant safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Coordinate work with upstream and downstream operations partners to minimize disruption and maintain process efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and operations staff to provide updates on equipment status and maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and improving maintenance processes.
  • Meet program requirements, including the ability to enroll in and attend a 9-week training at a designated training provider and flexibility to relocate after completion of the program.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including moving up to 49 pounds, standing and walking for shifts up to 12 hours, climbing ladders and gangways safely, and performing regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma.
  • At least 1 year of PC software experience, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Vocational or technical training, an associate degree or higher, or at least 1 year of reliability maintenance engineering experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing operational items in a technical or mechanical environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of mathematics relevant to technical and mechanical tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements accurately for maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to enroll in and attend a 9-week training program at one of several designated training providers.
  • Flexibility to relocate after completion of the apprenticeship program, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, and operations partners.
  • Ability to work well in a team, demonstrate self-motivation, and coordinate activities with upstream and downstream operations partners.
  • Physical ability to move up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for extended shifts up to 12 hours, climb ladders and gangways safely, and perform frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of military experience, particularly in technical, mechanical, or electronics roles.
  • Experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or material handling equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Experience implementing and reinforcing safety standards in an industrial or warehouse environment.
  • Experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Exposure to mechatronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation systems.
  • Interest in developing skills that combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and automation engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies, exercise sound judgment, manage stress effectively, and work safely and respectfully with others.

Work Environment

You will work in a highly automated warehouse environment in Arlington, WA that operates at scale to support fast, accurate, and reliable order fulfillment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.84 - $26.84/hr.
