Launch your actuarial career with an exciting winter internship at our Canadian office in Toronto! This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in the P&C (Property & Casualty) sector while working alongside industry professionals who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of actuarial talent. About the Role

As an Actuarial Intern reporting directly to our P&C Appointed Actuary, you'll be immersed in meaningful work that contributes to our company's success while developing your technical and professional capabilities in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Canadian statutory reserving and reporting under IFRS 17, gaining exposure to industry standards
  • Assist with financial forecast modelling, Financial Condition Testing (FCT) and the ORSA process
  • Contribute to the transition and stabilization of IFRS 17, collaborating with local and global project teams across functions including Finance and IT
  • Work on diverse projects and provide support to team members as needed
  • Apply analytical skills to solve real business problems while receiving mentorship from experienced actuaries

You'll join our dynamic P&C Actuarial team based in Toronto, working in a collaborative environment where innovation and analytical thinking are valued. Our team plays a crucial role in the company's financial reporting, risk assessment, and strategic planning, providing you with exposure to various aspects of the actuarial profession while supporting your professional development.

About You

You're a motivated student with a passion for numbers, problem-solving, and learning. You're detail-oriented yet can see the big picture, and you're excited about building a career in the actuarial field.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, with Visual Basic Programming capabilities
  • Demonstrated progress in actuarial exams
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with MS Access, R, Oracle or other database management tools
  • Previous internship experience in insurance, finance, or related fields
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 concepts
  • Proactive learning style with intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
