POSITION PURPOSE:


Under direction from the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator A operates machines to manufacture a variety of standard parts and details to close tolerances and finish requirements. 


Full-Time

Salary Range: $20-25 / hr


Shift Available:

1st shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate machine tools to produce precision parts
  • Modify parts and materials to improve overall production
  • Inspect completed parts
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerance using measuring instruments
  • Operate machine, observe operations, check dimensions and adjust as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES:


This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary. Employees are and will be held accountable for all duties of the job.

  • May operate multiple machines 
  • Perform close tolerance machining operations such as centering, drilling, reaming, tapping, turning, milling, deburr at back side, file and/or sand
  • Operations may vary with approval of supervisor to compensate for variations in material and machining operations
  • Lubricate machines as needed with oil, grease and coolant
  • Will work from drawings specifications and job layouts using a variety of measuring instruments
  • Make machine and tool adjustments as needed
  • Obtain and return tools as required
  • Checks parts per specification and ensure proper forms are completed including part tags, process sheets and timecards  
  • Maintain and improve insert and tooling management
  • May help and train other staff 
  • Must be quality conscious and continuously look for quality improvements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with machine tools and equipment
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Maintain clean and orderly work area, including equipment, and perform all assignments in safe manner
  • Demonstrates ability to read, write, hear and interpret documents and instructions from both verbal and written English
  • Ability to lift and carry of up to 50 pounds safely 
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, crouch and kneel
  • Vision requirements include (corrective and non) close range, distance, color, peripheral, depth and ability to adjust focus
  • Comply with all company, safety and quality policies and procedures
