Job description

JOB SUMMARY


The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for performing various routine or special clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the laboratory using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. In addition to testing, the supervisor is responsible for oversight of assigned departments or shift insuring compliance with regulatory agencies along with corporate, hospital, and laboratory policies and procedures. Incumbents of this position must effectively interact with patients, laboratory staff, hospital employees, managers, and other health team members while maintaining established professional standards.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science (or comparable Biological Science) required with clinical laboratory internship.
  • Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license is required.
