Position Description Summary/Purpose:
The School of Health Professions in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Bridgeport (Bridgeport, CT) invites applications for a part-time adjunct instructor Health Sciences-Exercise & Fitness faculty to begin in the spring of 2026.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in biomechanics, strength & conditioning, personal training, fitness assessment, and other exercise science subjects as needed.
  • Under general supervision, the adjunct professor will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework in the Exercise & Fitness concentration in an on-campus setting.
  • Support the mission of the department and college to promote student learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, faculty scholarship, professional development, and service to the college

Other Functions:
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
  • The appointee must have earned a Master's Degree in exercise science, human performance, kinesiology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment period.
  • Previous teaching experience and industry-relevant professional certifications (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, or NASM) are required.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.
