Job description

Description:

ARL Network is a national trucking and logistics company headquartered in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Our People & Technology department is in the middle of actively building AI-powered platforms that will automate entire workflows and change how every department in this company operates. This is not a future roadmap. It is happening now, and this role puts you in the room where it happens.

The Opportunity

This is not a typical internship. This is your entry point into the wave of AI and automation that is reshaping every industry. You will work directly alongside our Director of People & Technology and a small team that is building these systems. You will use AI tools on day one, from generating documents, to strategy, to process improvement, to building internal platforms. You will see how technology decisions get made, how platforms get built from scratch, and how a department that combines HR, IT, and automation actually runs. The starting rate for this internship is $15/hr working M-F 8AM to 5PM.

If you perform well over the summer, the internship continues part-time during your senior year at an increased rate of $17/hour with a flexible schedule that works around your classes. Upon graduation, you transition into a full-time salaried role as a People & Automation Specialist at $52,000/year. We are building this role around the right person.

What You Will Do This Summer

This is a jack-of-all-trades role. You will not be stuck doing one thing. In a single week, you might:

  • Rebuild and organize the department's SharePoint site with proper folder structures, naming conventions, and document templates
  • Shadow team members across HR, IT, and Analytics and document their workflows as formal Standard Operating Procedures
  • Learn to use Claude AI as a daily work tool for strategy, process analysis, research, writing, and problem-solving. This training begins on day one and is a core part of the role.
  • Sit in on automation build sessions where the team is using AI to design workflows, write code, scope system integrations, and architect internal platforms
  • Plan and coordinate company events: team outings, employee appreciation, department celebrations. Own the logistics from concept to follow-up.
  • Design and run employee pulse surveys to measure team sentiment and culture health. Analyze results and present findings to leadership.
  • Gain exposure to IT operations and begin learning the company's recruiting process under the Director of People & Technology
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to administrative projects, and help build the organizational systems that support the department's growth

What Happens After Summer

If you perform well, this internship continues part-time during your senior year at $17/hr, with expanded responsibilities in recruiting, employee engagement, and automation exposure. Upon graduation (May/June 2027), you transition to full-time as a People & Automation Specialist at $52,000/year.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Rising senior pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear, professional written communication skills
  • Comfortable learning new technology quickly. Technical background is not required, but curiosity about how software, AI, and automation work is essential.
  • Ability to work independently with direction. This is a small, fast-moving team.
  • Not afraid to speak up. This is a small team that runs on honest input. We want someone who asks questions, challenges ideas, and voices their perspective. If you see a better way to do something, say it. If you don't understand something, ask.
  • Interest in a career that blends people operations with technology, AI, and automation

Schedule & Location

On-site: Monday through Thursday at ARL Network headquarters, 1155 Stoops Ferry Road, Moon Township, PA 15108
Remote: Fridays (work from home)
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a one-hour break for lunch
Summer: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Senior Year: Part-time with flexible scheduling around class schedule
