What is an internship GTM consultant?

An Internship GTM (Go-To-Market) Consultant is a student or recent graduate who assists organizations in developing and executing strategies to successfully launch products or services in the market. This role typically involves market research, competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and the development of marketing and sales strategies. Interns in this position gain hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams and contribute to real-world business growth initiatives. The internship provides valuable exposure to the fields of marketing, product management, and business strategy.

What projects and responsibilities does an internship GTM consultant have, and how do they contribute to the team's goals?

As an Internship GTM (Go-to-Market) Consultant, you can expect to contribute to projects such as market research, competitive analysis, and assisting with the development of product launch strategies. You’ll often collaborate with cross-functional teams—including marketing, sales, and product management—to gather insights and help shape the market approach. These responsibilities not only build your understanding of the GTM process but also provide hands-on experience in strategy execution, which is highly valued for advancement in consulting and marketing roles. Interns are typically encouraged to share ideas and may take ownership of specific tasks within a project, allowing for both learning and meaningful impact.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an internship GTM consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship GTM Consultant, you need a solid understanding of business strategy, market research, and data analysis, often supported by coursework in business, marketing, or related fields. Familiarity with CRM tools (like Salesforce), data visualization platforms, and Microsoft Excel is typically expected. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills help interns stand out in collaborative, fast-paced environments. These skills are crucial for developing actionable insights, supporting effective go-to-market strategies, and contributing meaningfully to cross-functional projects.

Job description

About Persona
Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder - but more important - than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly.
We've built Persona to support practically every use case and industry - that's why we're able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Reddit relies on Persona for age assurance and verification to comply with online safety regulations, protecting younger users while maintaining a seamless experience. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world's most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live.
We're growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us!
About the Role
Persona is looking for a high-performing sales professional to drive revenue and business growth across our customer segments, from high-growth startups to the world's largest global enterprises. This role is responsible for owning the full sales cycle, landing new logos, and building durable customer relationships that scale with Persona's platform.
The ideal candidate brings a consultative, process-driven sales approach and is energized by selling a complex, technical product to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional buying experiences, shape our go-to-market motion, and help define the standards for how Persona sells as we continue to grow.
This is an opportunity to join a world-class sales organization where you can accelerate your career, influence GTM strategy, and make a meaningful impact on Persona's growth.
What you'll do at Persona
  • Own the full sales cycle from discovery through close using a consultative, customer-first approach
  • Drive net-new customer acquisition and build pipeline across a defined territory or segment
  • Partner closely with Sales Engineers and cross-functional teams to design and position tailored solutions
  • Deliver compelling presentations that simplify technical and contractual concepts for diverse stakeholders
  • Develop and execute account and territory strategies that support revenue growth and predictability
  • Maintain strong pipeline hygiene and clearly communicate deal health, risks, and next steps
  • Build deep product, market, and competitive expertise to advise customers effectively
  • Contribute to the evolution of Persona's go-to-market motion by piloting and scaling sales best practices

What you'll bring to Persona
  • 2+ years of proven experience carrying a quota in a B2B SaaS sales role with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Experience managing the full customer acquisition lifecycle from lead qualification to close
  • Strong ability to sell a technical product to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate value
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage sales cycles of varying length and complexity
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort operating with autonomy in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer-centric mindset with a passion for building relationships and telling customer stories
  • Proficiency with modern sales and productivity tools such as SFDC, Apollo, Notion, Slack, and Google

Benefits and Perks
For full-time US-based employees (excluding internship and contractor opportunities), Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipend, wellness benefits, among others.
For full-time UK employees, Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including private medical insurance, dental insurance, a 6% employer pension contribution, unlimited PTO, a monthly wellness stipend, professional development stipend, co-working stipend, and more.
As part of our interview process, all candidates will be asked to verify their identity with Persona. This step is used solely to confirm that candidates are who they say they are, and will have no impact on hiring decisions.
