Both roles are common in tech companies and provide valuable experience in backend development.

Is a 3.0 GPA good for internships?

For an internship related to GraphQL or similar technical roles, a 3.0 GPA is generally acceptable, especially if complemented by relevant skills, projects, or certifications. Many employers prioritize practical experience and technical proficiency over GPA, but a higher GPA can strengthen your application. Demonstrating knowledge of GraphQL, APIs, and programming languages can be more impactful than GPA alone.

What are the big 4 internships?

The 'Big 4' internships typically refer to internship programs at the four largest professional services firms: Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and KPMG. These firms offer internships in areas such as audit, consulting, tax, and advisory, providing valuable experience for students pursuing careers in accounting and finance.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a GraphQL internship?

During a GraphQL internship, you will likely work on designing, building, and optimizing APIs using the GraphQL query language. Common responsibilities include collaborating with backend and frontend teams to define data requirements, writing schema definitions, and implementing resolvers. Interns often assist with debugging, testing, and documenting APIs, while also learning best practices for security and performance. This role is a great way to gain hands-on experience in modern API development and work in cross-functional teams that value communication and innovation.

Is 22 too old for an internship?

Internship GraphQL roles are open to candidates of all ages, including 22-year-olds. Age is generally not a barrier; employers focus on skills, such as knowledge of GraphQL, programming languages, and willingness to learn. Many internships welcome diverse applicants, regardless of age or experience level.

Is 20 an hour good for an internship?

For an internship in GraphQL or related tech roles, $20 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for entry-level positions or those requiring specific skills like API development and data querying. However, internship pay varies by location, industry, and company size, so it's important to compare with local standards and the scope of responsibilities involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a GraphQL Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a GraphQL Intern, you need foundational knowledge of JavaScript, APIs, and familiarity with GraphQL concepts, often supported by coursework or prior project experience. Experience with tools such as Apollo Client/Server, GraphQL Playground, and version control systems like Git is typically expected. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help you collaborate with development teams and learn quickly. These skills are crucial for building efficient, scalable APIs and contributing meaningfully to real-world software projects.

What is an Internship in GraphQL?

An Internship in GraphQL is a temporary position, often for students or recent graduates, where individuals get hands-on experience working with GraphQL, a query language for APIs. During the internship, participants typically learn how to design, implement, and test GraphQL APIs, as well as integrate them with frontend or backend systems. The role helps interns develop technical skills in software development, teamwork, and problem-solving, often under the guidance of experienced engineers. Interns may also contribute to real-world projects, attend training sessions, and receive mentorship. This experience can be a valuable stepping stone toward a career in software engineering or API development.

Job description

About D3:
D3 is building the world's first purpose-built blockchain for DomainFi-bringing domain tokenization and DeFi primitives to a massive, rapidly growing $350B+ real-world asset class. We're revolutionizing how existing and future domain names are owned, traded, and leveraged in the digital economy.
Our elite team is stacked with industry veterans who have spent the last three decades shaping the internet, from pioneering domain name monetization to architecting key internet protocols to launching and running major TLDs like .xyz, .inc, .tv, and .link. With a proven track record of innovation and success, we're now redefining what's possible in the domain space.
We recently closed a $25M Series A led by Paradigm - one of the best investors in the industry. This will help fuel our mission to bring domains fully on-chain and unlock new financial possibilities for one of the internet's most valuable asset classes.
We're based in Los Angeles, with team members all over the world. We're looking for driven, talented builders to help build a trillion-dollar DomainFi economy. Join us!
Job Overview:
This is a hybrid role in Los Angeles where you'll help build the next generation of backend systems that power our Web2/Web3 domain registrar and marketplaces. As a Backend Engineer (Entry Level), you'll work alongside experienced engineers to design and implement backend services, learn modern web and blockchain technologies, and contribute to real products that bridge traditional and decentralized internet infrastructure.
This role is a great fit for recent graduates or early-career engineers who want to grow quickly in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the product and engineering teams to understand requirements and turn them into backend features.
  • Help design, implement, and maintain backend services that power our registrar platform and domain marketplace.
  • Contribute to backend systems that connect with blockchain protocols.
  • Assist in building payment integrations that support both traditional and crypto payments.
  • Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews.
  • Debug, fix, and improve existing codebases with mentorship from senior engineers.
  • Stay curious and learn about new tools, frameworks, and best practices in web and blockchain development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 0-2 years of professional experience in backend development (internships, projects, or open-source contributions count).
  • Familiarity with at least one backend programming language (e.g., JavaScript/Node.js, Python, or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of version control (Git) and collaborative development.
  • Problem-solving mindset, eagerness to learn, and ability to work in a team.
  • Interest in Web3/blockchain technologies is a plus, but not required-you'll learn here!
Nice to haves:
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean).
  • Familiarity with frameworks like NestJS or GraphQL.
  • Previous projects or coursework involving blockchain, distributed systems, or domain registries.

Why D3, Why Now?
Ground-Floor Growth, Learning, and Impact: D3 is your chance to dive headfirst into an ultra-early-stage company where every move you make truly matters. You'll have the opportunity to sharpen your skills, expand your expertise, and shape the foundation of something groundbreaking. Almost everything we're building today at D3 is "zero-to-one," meaning you'll be among the first to craft, refine, and launch key initiatives that define our future success.
Strong, Proven Leadership: At D3, you'll work alongside industry visionaries who have been there, done that, and are ready to do it again-only bigger. Our leadership team brings veteran industry experience, sharp insights, and a relentless drive to do big things across every function at D3. You'll gain invaluable mentorship, develop a high-impact mindset, and be challenged to grow in ways you never imagined.
Unique Market Positioning - We're pioneering at the intersection of internet infrastructure, real-world assets, and blockchain communities, creating solutions that redefine what's possible in Web3. If you want to push boundaries, solve complex problems, and be part of a team that's shaping the future of the Internet, D3 is the place to do it.
