Wight & Company is seeking a talented and motivated Interior Designer with 6+ years of professional experience to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary practice. This role involves leading interior architecture projects from early concept through construction, delivering thoughtful, functional, and inspiring environments that align with client goals, technical requirements, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead interior architectural design across all project phases, including programming, conceptual design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Develop space plans, interior architectural details, material and finish palettes, furniture selection, specifications, and procurement.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Serve as a client-facing team member by understanding project goals, managing expectations, and clearly communicating design concepts and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and produce high-quality drawings and specifications using Revit and related tools.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct site visits and support construction administration activities.
  • Manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables; contribute to quality control reviews
  • Mentor and support junior staff as appropriate.
  • Adapt to project needs by contributing in both leadership and support roles while maintaining strong collaboration and design quality

Background & Experience Expectations
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or Architecture
  • 6+ years of professional experience in an architecture or interior architecture firm
  • Licensure as an Interior Designer or Architect (or ability to obtain licensure) preferred
  • LEED AP, WELL AP, or similar sustainability/wellness credentials are valued.
  • Strong design sensibility balancing aesthetics, function, and constructability
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience across civic project typologies such as municipal/government, emergency/safety, community/recreation center.

Salary Range: $83,000 - $95,000. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
