Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary:
The IT Career Immersion Internship is a competitive position within University Technology Services designed to provide career exploration and hands-on experience in information technology. This role, meant for rising juniors, is developmental in nature, with interns contributing to defined operational and project-based activities under supervision, while progressively building technical competency and career aptitude.
Program Structure
Selected students will participate in three (3) rotational placements across designated UTS teams during the 2026-27 academic year.
  • The Fall semester will consist of two (2) seven-week placements, with options in the customer-facing support areas.
  • The Spring semester will consist of one 14-week placement in a more advanced and specialized area of UTS.

Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, students may be invited to continue as a specialized intern.
Requirements:
  • Rising junior who has declared an IT-related degree or who is completing advanced coursework or certificate programs in IT-related disciplines. Relevant prior or current experience as a Technology Services student worker may be accepted in lieu of a declared IT-related degree or advanced coursework.
  • Ability to average 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Willingness to complete necessary training and certifications, such as golf cart certification

Additional Information:
First round interviews will be scheduled for June 17th or 18th depending on availability.
Second round interviews will be scheduled within 1-2 weeks of first round.
Physical Demands Summary:
Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
