What You'll Do
We are seeking a talented Industrial Designer to support the development of new golf products across our soft goods equipment and accessories portfolio. This is a freelance to hire opportunity for a designer who is excited to shape both product and process while helping bridge the gap between creative vision and production.
You will work closely with our Creative Team, Product Development, and R&D to bring new concepts to life across a range of golf soft goods including golf bags, complete sets, headwear, accessories, and gear. This role offers a unique opportunity to help define the workflow between creative identity, product development, sampling, and factory execution.
The ideal candidate is both a strong product designer and a systems thinker who can contribute thoughtful design work while helping build efficient collaboration between teams.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support the design and development of new golf products across equipment and accessories
  • Create concept sketches, design explorations, and product design solutions from early concept through production
  • Translate brand and creative direction into functional product designs
  • Deliver detailed tech packs, specifications, and construction documentation to support development and manufacturing
  • Communicate directly with vendors and factory partners to ensure design intent, materials, and construction details are executed correctly
  • Collaborate with Creative, Product Development, and R&D teams throughout the development process
  • Assist in material selection, color development, and construction details for golf soft goods
  • Participate in prototype reviews, testing, and product iteration cycles
  • Contribute to establishing and refining workflows between creative identity, product development, sampling, and factory partners

What We're Looking For
This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in industrial design, graphic design or a related field. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in industrial design, ideally within soft goods or consumer products.
Other qualifications include:
  • 3 to 7+ years of industrial design experience, ideally within soft goods, sporting goods, or consumer products
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful product design and problem solving
  • Experience designing bags, accessories, or equipment preferred
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar 3D modeling tools
  • Experience building tech packs and preparing product documentation for manufacturing
  • Understanding of materials, construction methods, and factory production processes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across creative and product teams
  • Highly detail oriented with a strong sense of form, function, and brand expression

Structure
  • Freelance role with potential to convert to full time
  • Reports into the Creative Team within a collaborative design environment
  • Works closely with the Head of Product and Product Development teams

What We'll Provide
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $45 to $50 per hour at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training.
Located in the vibrant, sports-centric city of Chicago, Wilson Sporting Goods Co. global headquarters sits along the lakefront with first-class access to a burgeoning creative, innovative, energetic and active professional community. We offer an open, collaborative, high tech work environment with best-in-class amenities.
