Position Overview

The Golf Club at South River is looking for an Assistant Golf Professional. Our 18-hole beautifully conditioned private golf course has been skillfully designed by Brian Ault and integrated into the surrounding community of South River Colony with a distinguished layout that will impress.

Other amenities on the property include golf practice area for chipping and putting, an HD golf simulator, pro shop, fitness center, locker rooms, bag storage, and bistro dining that includes a beautiful patio seating area overlooking our signature 18th hole.

The Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the success of the Golf Operation which includes but is not limited to: All Pro Shop Services/Sales, Oversee & maintain Practice Facilities, Club Tournaments & Leagues, Assist with Event Sales Coordination, & Golf Cart Operations.

Experience Required

  • PGA Member, Associate, or Apprentice required.
  • Private Club Experience Preferred.
  • Must maintain good standing in the PGA for the duration of employment.
  • Working knowledge of the rules of golf, tournament operations, cart fleet management, point of sale operations, and inventory control.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to transfer knowledge and skills to others required.
  • Adheres to club policy and procedures.
  • Acts as a role model within and outside the club.
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues.
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all data.
  • Meets department productivity standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide superb service to the members and their guests.
  • Perform opening and closing duties of the golf shop and practice facilities including cash deposits and daily reporting.
  • Assist the Head Professional in conducting player development programs for all levels of players.
  • Assist with the administration of club tournaments, outside events, and leagues.
  • Supervise and schedule the golf shop staff and outside services staff in accordance with payroll budgets.
  • Follow all golf shop procedures.
  • Place, check, and receive special orders.
  • Receive merchandise and process invoices promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate par levels of stock inventory.
  • Assist with quarterly inventory.
  • Assist with merchandising of the golf shop.
  • Assist in the supervision of the locker room including shoe services.
  • Help maintain the handicap system.
  • Start groups and monitor play.
  • Provide individual and group lessons.
  • Assist with training the PGM interns, golf shop staff, and outside service personnel.
  • Provide custom club-fitting and basic repair services.
  • Perform outside services as needed.
  • Make tee times for members at both South River and Queenstown Harbor.
  • Ensure the accuracy of member charges on a daily basis.
  • With the approval of the Head Golf Professional, play golf with the members of all abilities to generate enthusiasm.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional
