NextNav is a leader in next generation position, navigation and timing (PNT), enabling a whole new ecosystem of applications and services that rely upon 3D geolocation and PNT technology. Powered by low-band licensed spectrum, NextNavs positioning and timing technologies can deliver accurate, reliable and resilient 3D PNT solutions for critical infrastructure, GPS resiliency and commercial use cases.
At NextNav we are looking for a creative, and passionate intern to join a project centered around Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The candidate will closely work with NextNavs AI/ML engineering team to develop solutions focused on improving performance, accuracy and efficiency. This individual will be joining from our Santa Clara, CA office and working closely with our Paris, France office.
In this role, you will be working with high-precision ground-truth data and Networks to construct engineering and model training for NextNavs future. Success in this role will be measured by expected outputs include a reproducible benchmarking pipeline, comparative results across different model architectures, and a concise recommendation identifying the most promising models for further investigation.
Must have Requirements

  • An enrolled PhD student with Computer Science,Electronics & Communications,Data Science, AI/ML, or similar related field.
  • Strong background in statistics, signal processing,and AI/machine learning
  • Hands-onexperiencewithdeeplearningtraining andoptimization
  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with machine-learning libraries such as scikit-learn,PyTorch, or JAX, and MATLAB
  • Flexibility to work acrosstimezones - the chosen candidate will have to collaborate extensively with teammates based out of NextNav Paris (France) and work out of Santa Clara(USA).
  • Internship duration: 3-6 months.


Preferred Requirements

  • Previous experience working Research and/or other AI/ML Projects
  • Familiarity with modern architectures (transformers, state-space models, and generative models such as GANs, diffusion models, normalizing flows, and autoencoders) is a plus.
