Position Overview
We are seeking a Diesel Engine Performance Engineer to join our diesel performance team, fully on-site in Lafayette, IN. Working under the guidance of the diesel team lead, senior performance engineer, and diesel hot test analyst, you will support dealer technical sales inquiries, DTO order processing, data publication and maintenance, and factory hot test quality and velocity. Tasks will primarily be driven through a work request system to ensure clear assignment tracking and timely completion.
Key Contributions & Responsibilities
  • Support dealer technical sales inquiries with accurate, timely technical information and analysis.
  • Support DTO (Direct to Order) order processing activities.
  • Support data publication and ongoing data maintenance activities.
  • Support factory hot test quality and velocity, including occasional time in the test cell galley.
  • Manage assigned work requests through the work tracking system, ensuring timely completion and clear documentation.
  • Work directly with the diesel team lead and team members for training, guidance, and task execution.
Team Structure & Work Environment
  • You will work directly with the diesel team lead, senior performance engineer, and diesel hot test analyst, with regular collaboration across other team members.
  • Work environment is primarily office-based with some support provided in the test cell galley for factory hot test activities. This is a fully on-site role in Lafayette, IN.

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required. Internship experience may be counted toward the required years of experience.

  • Strong data analysis skills - able to interpret engine performance data and draw clear, actionable conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to track and complete multiple work requests simultaneously.
Required Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of diesel engine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with computers and data tools including Excel, MATLAB, and Office 365.
