For our top performing interns, this program is our pipeline for many of our entry level full-time positions.


As a Business Banking Intern, you will... 

  • Actively participate in prospecting efforts with Business Bankers.
  • Pre-plan with Business Bankers and attend in-person client/prospect meetings.
  • Analyze business prospects to ensure the industry aligns with our strategic plan. 
  • Collaborate with the credit team during loan request and renewal underwriting. 
  • Plan and execute networking events.
  • Use client database tool (CSI) to uncover potential ways to help existing clients.
  • Collaborate with the deposit team to build relationships with new and existing clients. 
  • The goal is that you will take what you have learned in your course work, apply it to your projects and then implement those solutions or recommendations. 
  • Have both a manager and mentor to help guide your through our program and your day-to-day work. 
  • Be given the opportunity to deliver a final presentation of your project/s results and make business recommendations to your department, team members and Company leadership.
  • Work onsite in one of our offices an average of 30-40 hours per week. At Merchants we believe that "Together Everyone Achieves More", so we will not have a virtual option in 2027.
