Internship Term: Fall 2026 (September - December)
Internship Location: On-site in Indianapolis, IN
Anticipated Time Commitment: 20-30 hours/ 3 days per week
Pacers Sports & Entertainment is seeking a part-time Sustainability Intern to support the planning, coordination, and advancement of sustainability and social impact initiatives across the organization. Working closely with the Senior Sustainability Project Coordinator, this individual will help identify opportunities, build relationships, and advance projects that engage departments across the business. This role is ideal for a proactive, relationship-oriented individual who enjoys collaborating with diverse teams, coordinating projects, and turning ideas into action.
The intern will serve as a key connector between departments, helping to foster alignment, increase participation, and support the successful implementation of sustainability and community impact programs. Through regular engagement with team members across the organization, the intern will gain exposure to multiple areas of the business while helping further PS&E's sustainability goals and community impact efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with the Senior Sustainability Project Coordinator to support and advance strategic sustainability initiatives across the organization.
  • Build relationships with departments across the organization to identify opportunities for collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a proactive liaison between teams, helping move projects forward and ensuring stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and accountable.
  • Coordinate meetings, communications, and follow-up actions to support cross-functional sustainability initiatives. Support projects in the waste, energy, legal/compliance, operations, and corporate partnerships spaces, assisting with research, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and implementation.
  • Help identify and advance new sustainability opportunities by engaging with internal departments and external partners.
  • Assist with hands-on support during events, including waste audits, diversion tracking, material recovery efforts, and the implementation of zero waste strategies.
  • Research best practices and innovative approaches that can strengthen sustainability and engagement efforts throughout the organization.
  • Support the development of presentations, communications, and educational materials that help advance sustainability goals and drive participation.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and tasks, demonstrating initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to seek out new opportunities for impact.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Enrolled in a college or university program as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
  • A self-starter and go-getter who is proactive, resourceful, and willing to take initiative without waiting for direction.
  • Interest in developing solutions that combine data, operational insights, and stakeholder engagement to create meaningful environmental and social impact.
  • Interest in sustainability, organizational engagement, community impact, corporate partnerships, or environmental stewardship.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, waste metrics, or GHG inventory is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working in both office and event environments; must be willing to participate in event-day operations including nights and weekends as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate and the noise level in the Fieldhouse/game environment is usually loud. The stress level may become high during certain times of the year.
