Work EnvironmentSupervised, educational setting or entry-level clinical environmentClinical, home, or school settings providing ABA therapy

The Internship Entry Level Behavior Technician role is designed for individuals gaining initial experience and training in behavior therapy, often as a stepping stone to becoming a certified Behavior Technician. The internship offers foundational exposure, while the Behavior Technician role involves more responsibility and certification requirements.

Is a behavior technician an entry level job?

Yes, a behavior technician is typically an entry-level position that requires minimal prior experience. Most roles involve on-the-job training and may require certification such as the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential, but advanced degrees are usually not necessary for entry-level employment.

How to get into RBT with no experience?

To become a Behavior Technician or RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) with no experience, you need to complete a 40-hour training program approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), pass the RBT exam, and obtain supervised experience hours. Volunteering or working in related fields such as caregiving or education can also help build relevant skills before certification.

What other jobs can I do with RBT experience?

With RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) experience, you can pursue roles such as behavior technician, ABA therapist, or behavioral health technician, which involve implementing behavior intervention plans under supervision. These positions often require knowledge of ABA principles, data collection skills, and certification renewal, making them suitable for entry-level professionals in behavioral health and autism support settings.

What is an RBT intern?

An RBT intern is a person training to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) by gaining supervised experience in implementing behavior analysis plans. The internship typically involves working under the supervision of a certified RBT or BCBA and may require completing specific training hours and passing the RBT exam to become certified. It provides practical experience in behavior intervention techniques used for clients with developmental or behavioral challenges.
