This isn't your average mission! Join HII – Mission Technologies and make a difference by joining us as an Engineering Technician Intern for Summer 2026. The Engineering Technician Internship is a temporary position within HII – Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training in machining, CNC operations, CAD/CAM, and hands-on engineering support.

The intern will gain experience with fabrication equipment, safety procedures, maintenance practices, and research project support. Permanent US work authorization without the need for sponsorship now, or in the future is also required. What You Will Do • Assist with preparing training materials, demonstrations, and basic hands‑on exercises related to CAD/CAM software, CNC machining, 3D printing and waterjet cutting.

• Support lab staff by helping set up equipment, organize tooling, and prepare materials for machining and prototyping tasks. • Learn to operate CNC mills/lathes and waterjet cutting equipment at a beginner level under supervision. • Help with routine equipment checks, cleanliness, organization, and basic preventative maintenance tasks.

• Assist in troubleshooting simple mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical issues by gathering information, documenting observations, and supporting senior staff. • Work with research and engineering teams on straightforward testing and evaluation tasks related to ongoing projects. • Support documentation efforts, including logging maintenance activities, tracking training participation, and recording project work.

• Uphold safety standards by maintaining clean workspaces, using required PPE, and following all lab procedures. • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. What You Must Have • High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with up to 20% of the required credits completed.

• Preference for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering or similar degrees. • Minimum requirement of a cumulative 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship. Preferred Requirements • Hands-on expertise with CNC mills/lathes and waterjet cutting systems.

• Strong mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting capabilities. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. • Experience in research, prototyping, or educational lab environments.

• Familiarity with metals, plastics, composites, and other fabrication materials. • Commitment to safety and best practices in a lab or workshop environment. Physical Requirements Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job.
