Position Title: Material Handler

Department: Shipping and Receiving

The Opportunity

The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate movement, storage, and documentation of materials used in electronics manufacturing. This role ensures that production lines receive the correct components at the right time, inventory levels remain accurate, and materials flow efficiently throughout the facility. Strong attention to detail, disciplined inventory control practices, and effective communication with production, purchasing, and quality teams are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Control โ€” Maintain precise inventory records through cycle counts, reconciliation, and timely system updates. Investigate discrepancies and collaborate with supervisors to resolve root causes.

  • Material Movement โ€” Receive, stage, store, and deliver raw materials, components, and finished goods using proper handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, carts, ESD-safe containers).

  • ERP Transactions โ€” Perform accurate system entries for material receipts, transfers, returns, and consumption using the companyโ€™s ERP or MRP platform.

  • Production Support โ€” Ensure production lines are continuously supplied with correct components, kits, and subassemblies. Monitor material usage and proactively replenish stock.

  • Incoming Inspection Support โ€” Coordinate with Quality Assurance to route incoming materials for inspection, quarantine nonconforming items, and maintain traceability.

  • ESD & Safety Compliance โ€” Handle sensitive electronic components following ESD protocols. Adhere to all facility safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and hazardous material procedures.

  • Documentation & Labeling โ€” Ensure all materials are properly labeled with part numbers, lot codes, quantities, and storage locations. Maintain accurate paperwork and digital records.

  • Warehouse Organization โ€” Keep storage areas clean, organized, and optimized for efficient material flow. Participate in layout improvements and 5S initiatives.

  • Shipping & Receiving โ€” Assist with inbound and outbound shipments, including verification of packing lists, preparation of documentation, and coordination with carriers.

  • Read and interpret work orders, Kanban cards, and job orders

  • Follow all SOPโ€™s required for the departments.

  • Work with the Team Leader and Manager to ensure warehouse is utilized efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Inventory Accuracy โ€” Demonstrated ability to maintain precise counts and documentation.

  • Electronics Handling โ€” Understanding of ESD-safe practices and component-level traceability.

  • Physical Capability โ€” Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and operate material handling equipment.

  • Communication โ€” Clear communication with production, purchasing, and quality teams.

  • Problem-Solving โ€” Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and workflow issues.

  • Manufacturing experience is considered an asset

  • Previous experience operating a forklift
